back again...

Haha...hmmm...the title of this post sounds like some kind of song title...'back again'....oh well, it does aptly describe what's happening and that is: i'm back again! For those of you out there who has been reminding me to update my blog, just wanna say thanks for all your reminders but due to my slow dial-up connection, i have neglected my blog...sorry! Anyway, just some updates in my life for my delightful friends whom i miss so much (especially those i have not seen for quite a while)...so here goes, i'm still jobless, in a sense...oh well, have been teaching tuition and basically getting all exasperated with the students, though some of them are really adorable :) and will look for a job next year, heehee... Ok, i'm hearing the questions: why? why? why?
Basically, i have been going for mission trips after graduating and i'm working part-time to finance these trips :) So far, i've been to Thailand in July, China in September and will be going to Myanmar in November, yeah!!! So, you see...how to get a job? very difficult to get leave... OK, but truth to be told, i'm also a little fearful about getting a job...
However, going for these mission trips have really opened my eyes to a lot of things and helped me gain a different perspective on things around me. Sometimes, we feel that going for mission trips is a way of serving God through helping people who are in need but more often than not, we realise from these trips that it's actually us who need help, at least for me...to me, these trips are a way of receiving help from God who is trying to help me get over my bias, perjudice, narrow-mindedness, pride, fears and many more...we often do not realise how fortunate we are and would complain about things that we wish would happen to us but are not happening...actually, complaining does not help matters at all, but as usual, that is how humans choose to react...i'm no exception.
Frankly speaking, if you think about it...being able to eat, sleep and breathe are the basic necessities...notice that i said necessities because humans are all about wants rather than needs and going for these trips made me gain a better understanding of what needs and wants are...for instance, we need water but we want coffee and soft drinks and we need a roof over our heads but we want a condonium and a bungalow. I'm not criticising the inborn tendency to seek for better things, in fact, the willingness to improve and strive for a better life is a fantastic trait in humans. Afterall, if we were to just remain passive and not to seek for improvement, we would not advance at all and perhaps still live primitively (shudder...), what i'm trying to say is that to learn to treasure the 'better' that are in your lives because there are people out there who do not yet have these privileges...
In fact, the ability of humans to feel and have a 'soft' side is also another wonderful gift from God, for without compassion for our fellow human beings, we would be reduced to being heartless machines focused only on endless pursuits of perfection that is unattainable in an imperfect world...perfection is what you make it to be, and not what you want it to be.......
For the orphan who has lost his/her parents from young, perfection is being loved unconditionally by people who care genuinely for him/her...for the man who has been jobless for months, perfection is being able to find a job to support his family...for the convict who has just been released, perfection is the willingness of family and friends to give him/her a second chance...
Hmmm...
