Whose flock are you?

"You are My flock, the flock of My pasture...and I am your God,"says the Lord God. (Ezekiel 34:31)

Have you ever wondered what is it like to be a sheep? What does it feel like to just stand around and eat grass, occassionally go "Baa.." and basically not care about anything except just wandering around to gaze at the grass...and at times, be sheared of your fur and life goes on in this simple manner?
Hard to imagine or can't wait for that to happen?
Wished that life could really be so easy and that you don't really have to bother about school or work or problems?

Well...if you're reading this, I would have to say: You are definitely not a real-life sheep. And life isn't going be that simple. Life just isn't simple. Period.
However, 'simple' is merely a matter of perception. What seems simple to one may be the very opposite to another.
Anyway, that is not the main point of discussion here.
It does not really matter if life is simple or not...some may find simple mundane while others are satisfied with it...in other words, simple is subjective.

The topic of discussion is 'flock' or 'sheep'... or 'a flock of sheep'? Anyway, it's about sheephood.
Being a sheep. Then, you might ask "But I thought it was mentioned earlier that we are not sheep". Hmm...true, I did mention that we are not real-life sheep but who knows? We could be sheep (in a metaphorical sense).

God said that we are His flock...so it kind of means that we are His sheep. Back to my earlier short illustration of the life of a sheep, which consists of eating, wandering and basically not really bothering about anything. Just thinking aloud here: but won't it be much simpler if we really take on this identity of being a sheep, God's sheep? The sheep simply follows the leading of the shepherd. It does not protest, it quietly obeys and goes wherever the shepherd leads it. It does its chores of wandering around to graze and does not worry about unnecessarily. It is not anxious but trusts implicitly. It is relatively gentle and docile, complying with the shepherd's every command. Of course, there are instances that it may just wander off and get lost from the group but the shepherd will always find it back. The shepherd shears its fur so that its talents or giftings would not go to waste but instead be used to help those in need. As its fur is gone, akin to talents or giftings being used, it could feel cold but it is created in such a way that it can withstand the cold. Besides, if the old fur is not used up or taken away, how could new fur (talents) grow?

Just wondering aloud...
