Sacrifices not in vain...

With regards to the latest campus shooting at Virginia Tech University, many are filled with grief and even disbelief that such a devastating incident should happen in a school environment, which is supposed to safe and secure. Yet, time cannot be turned back and all the "what ifs" cannot undo the tradegy.
We grieve together with those who mourn for the loss of their families and friends and also applaud the efforts of those who had done their utmost to protect the lives of their classmates through quick-thinking. We also saluate the sacrifices of the professors who lost their lives in order to ensure the safety of their students. Indeed it is such acts of human kindness and sacrifice that strikes a deep chord in our hearts and offer us some solace and hope that all is not lost.
John 15:13 tells us 'Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.'
Indeed, through this incident, let us not concentrate on the grave acts of the gunman but let us see the beauty of love conveyed through the deeds of those who had willingly gave up their lives so that others can have a chance to live.
At the same time, we just pray that God's strength and comfort will be with the families and friends of the deceased.
